State Taxes

Michigan only

Click the pencil icon to review or make changes Michigan Tax Withholding.
The following fields can be changed:
- Filing Status: (Single, Married, Head of household or family)
- Number of allowances
- Additional Withholding (per pay period)
Click on the Certification box
Click the Save and Back button on the bottom right of page
Click on Cancel to exit only if no changes are being made

Other states

You are unable to select a different state in EBS. You must reach out to Payroll at 517.355.5010 or ctlr.payroll@ctlr.msu.edu for assistance.

State of Michigan Tax Rate:

Income tax withholding rate: 4.25%
Personal exemption amount: $5,600 for Tax Year 2024

To claim tax exempt status for Federal and or State, you will need to complete a paper form and mail to:
